Funny German Birthday

Mr. Christophe Willem Roux

Mr Roux, or whatever it is, Monsieur Roux is the name of a French group created by Erwan Roux in 2004. Erwan comes from Rennes, Ille et Vilaine. Before devoting himself to music and exercising social educator in his spare time he indulged his two passions, music and travel. On one such trip by the Indian Ocean and Madagascar met a musician, also from Rennes, who invited him to play as the opening act at concerts. Erwan accepted the challenge and turn joined with two other musicians, Kevin Gravier, alias Brandon Michel (bass and bass) and Bertrand Thepaut, alias Jaunie Bernard (guitar, banjo and harmonica) and formed this group that for a time was a trio and finally be completed with drummer Matthieu Lesiard, alias Norman Beatman.

Ewan, who plays guitar, keyboards and ukulele, began writing texts for songs in adolescence, then there was like ten years without writing anything, and after this period to be taken seriously again. His lyrics are scathing humor and sometimes even hurtful, that part of himself at all is a part autobiographical, dealing with social, religious and political, prostitution, alienation and marginalization. In general, says Erwan, people prefer the street, it feels closer to the awkward and maladjusted. Find these characters more appealing to his compositions that others more formal and orderly. He attracts the crazy side of people and has compassion for the marginalized.

As for the music, recognizing influences on the French chanson, but also rock, pop, English music and song choice. Among its most popular artists are: Tom Waits , The Clash , MAP, Bruce Springsteen or Abd Al Malik. I often compared to Georges Brassens but he says he feels closer to or Renaud Maxime Le Forestier , given that Brassens not even know him.

The first actions of Mr Roux took place in cafes and bistros of Brittany. They say that western part of France is very rich in such premises dedicated to music and small festivals, they all act the group and, through them, got word of mouth worked and began to be known. In 2005 their first album is self, Oh yes j'étais grand et beau ... (Oh if I was tall and handsome), which has limited distribution to the region in which their performances take place. In 2006 participating in Francofolies in 2007 are awarded by the FAIR (Fund Rock Action and Initiative). That same year, file with the label Atmosphérique and his album is again reissued, this time with national distribution, enabling them to be known throughout the country. In addition, its first single is widespread in all radio that summer and "Petit rasta (Small rasta), is how the song is called, is chosen as the best song by the students of 250 colleges and institutes French award bearing the seal of the Academy Charles Cros . The second position is for "Gibraltar" Abd Al Malik . The following animated video you can hear this theme of Mr Roux and finally, I show another and translate the lyrics.

In 2008 the trio becomes a quartet and tours, not only for France, Quebec, Belgium and Switzerland can also enjoy their live. After the tour, and more than 300 shows behind them in November are enclosed in a Brussels studio and begin recording their second album, A caniculaire été (A Summer heatwave), under the command of Bruno Green , producing and mixing the album. The album consists of 13 songs marked by his characteristic black humor. Erwan, however, is not considered pessimistic, believe in man's ability to continually create and everything that mankind has to beautiful. Nor do they consider any past was better, as could be gathered by one of his titles, "C'était mieux avant" (It was better before), in contrast, says that society is improving, so the best is yet to come . Mr Roux nevertheless remains true in these new songs, one of the elements that characterize his writings: the irony. Since that distills the song that opens the album, "Le vote utile" (useful Voting), which says things how are you: "I was told you can not always do what you want ... eat what I give no rebel, I will review all my ideals and dreams useful useless and vote. "The following video of a fan you can hear the song live.

Mr Roux in the spring were acting in Quebec and now continue their tour along hexagonal geography.'ll leave you with another video animated "Petit Rasta", the song of which we spoke earlier, belonging to his first album, Oh yeah j'étais grand et beau ... (Oh yeah I was tall and handsome). A song that makes fun of these young people full of great ideals, apparently, but do nothing to carry them out, more concerned forms than in substance.

Monsieur Roux - 'Petit Rasta "Extrait de l'album
Oh, yeah ... j'étais (2007)

Tu es sympa, Petit Rasta,
Tu es Gentile, tu es mignon
Avec TES jolies dreads
Dans Tes cheveux blonds et

TES Tes Pantalons
That chemises bariolées tu as achete dans un festival d'artisanat népalais

Petit Rasta You are for peace in mankind

Even if you're revolted against society

Because it's really not cool

Poverty And War, my brother,
Should stop

But Petit Rasta ... (x 2)

And when you see
reggae concerts
like you lift your arm when
y 'words brought
Who say "We need to legalize ganja!"
Or "Customs
are not really nice "They are cute
your slogans
Petit Rasta
Thank you for your contribution to the debate
But tell me, little rasta
... What you
do to change this?

But Petit Rasta
has ideas
as beautiful as her long hair to rebel
But Petit Rasta
become big and just as his parents acorn
But Petit Rasta ...

Petit Rasta Rebel is a sofa
in which he spends most of its
days
To listen to reggae and smoke
And to chatting about the company
philosopher, philosopher, Petit Rasta
The world may die, it's not you who
budge
The only thing you do, it
fatten a mafioso
By purchasing your bad marocco

[Au chorus]

Petit Rasta
You're nice, you're cute
But when you taxed me a fag,
I told you no
So Little Rasta was upset and called me
bourgeois because
I was well-dressed
You know the class,
Petit rasta
It's not about money
Look cousins \u200b\u200bin Africa
Do not play poor
When one currency
Simple question
decency and respect
But Petit Rasta
Remember that you were born
the right side of poverty
Petit rasta But, remember
That where you come
We have always had a full stomach

[au Refrain]

Mr. Roux - "Little Rasta" from the album

even if you have rebelled against society

because poverty is not really

reggae concert, you love

raise his arm when engaged
letters that say: "We must legalize ganja!"
Or "
customs are nothing cute "They are very cute
your slogans,
Small Rasta,
thanks for your contribution to the debate.
But tell me, Little Rasta,

what do you do to change all that?

But Little Rasta

has such beautiful ideas as their long-haired rebel.
Small Rasta But there will be increased as bud
and their parents
But Little Rasta ...

Small Rasta is a rebel on the sofa

passed most of the day listening to reggae and smoking

and lecturing on society.
philosopher, philosopher, Small Rasta

The world can sink and will not be you who moves,

all you do is enrich a mafioso
to buy your bad hashish.

(Chorus)

Small Rasta,

a cigarette
and I said no then
Small Rasta was angry and called me bourgeois

because he was well dressed.
